Our Commitment to Workplace Safety and Wellbeing

Mass Distribution Solution (MDS) maintains a complete health and safety file as part of our formal system. This website statement provides only a basic overview of our principles and commitments.

At MDS, the safety and health of our employees, clients, and communities is our foremost priority. We believe all incidents and injuries are preventable, and we uphold a zero-harm goal in all operations.

Policy Principles

  • Legal Compliance: We adhere strictly to the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHASA) and all relevant regulations. Our practices are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance and alignment with best standards.
  • Management Responsibility: Our management is accountable for a safe working environment, including ensuring equipment safety, developing and following safe work procedures, and allocating adequate resources for safety measures.
  • Employee Involvement: We involve employees in health and safety through training, communication, and consultation. Each employee is empowered to take responsibility for their own and others’ safety, including the right to refuse unsafe work.
  • Risk Management: We proactively identify, assess, and control workplace hazards, prioritising elimination at the source through engineering solutions, with administrative controls and personal protective equipment (PPE) as supplementary measures.
  • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to improving our safety performance through regular audits, incident investigations, and objective reviews, learning from incidents to prevent recurrence.

Specific Safety Practices in Our Operations

  • All workshop and field service activities follow documented safe work procedures, including lockout-tagout (LOTO) for equipment isolation.

  • We provide and maintain necessary safety equipment, from machine guards to full personal protective gear for specific tasks.

  • Regular safety meetings and tool-box talks address job hazards and reinforce safe practices.
